Outstanding Proposal of the Zhoushan Hallo Island Installation Competition
It features a series of wind-powered "instruments," creating an outdoor musical space. Linear benches along the slope can host various musical events, or visitors can simply sit and listen to the natural sounds. The materials used in the installation reflect the island’s natural elements—such as sunlight, stone, and ocean waves—creating a "montage of island memories."
The second installation, Shallow Waters, is a protective structure located on the beach.
The coastline is one of the most direct places where humans interact with nature—whether swimming, eating seafood, watching sunsets, or simply engaging with the water. However, the sea also reveals its dangers when people venture into deep waters or overlook the changing tides.
To address this, we’ve placed a linear installation between the sea and the beach, marking the boundary of the shallow waters. Made of elastic rods and fishing net fibers, the structure emphasizes the relationship between humans and nature. It invites people to embrace the sea while serving as a reminder to respect the power and dangers of the natural world.
